Dr. A R Nithin Rao is a Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bangalore. He has been practising Surgical Gastroenterology and Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgery at the Ramaiah institutions since 2005.

Dr. Nithin Rao completed his MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, followed by an MS in General Surgery from KMC, Mangalore. He subsequently completed a Senior Residency in Cancer Surgery at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi.

He further pursued specialized training in Transplantation Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, where he obtained a fellowship. He also worked at Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, as a Clinical Tutor in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation.

His areas of clinical practice include Surgical Gastroenterology, HPB Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery. His international training has provided experience in the surgical management of diseases involving the liver, pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder.

He remains actively involved in clinical trials and research projects, combining clinical practice with academic and evidence-based surgical care.

Dr. Nithin Rao has contributed extensively to medical research and has more than 43 publications in peer-reviewed journals, predominantly international journals. He has also presented his work at conferences across the world.
